Follow Me is a superbly shot new HD film from Anthill Films. It was the first mountain bike film I had wanted to see on the big screen in a long time and it was also to be my daughters first big screen experience- it definitely did not disappoint and left me wanting more, thanks Caleb!!
Like the title explains the film predictably “follows” a number of the current top hot riders from downhill, free riding and dirt jumping disciplines on a variety of trails from around the world. Picturesque settings combined with mind blowing riding just makes you want to get out and ride as each segment shows how awesome it is to be a mountain biker in the world today.
With riders like Brandon Semenuk, Thomas Vanderham, Sam Hill, Gee Atherton, Matt Hunter, Kurt Sorge and Stevie Smith is hard to go wrong. Highlights were definitely Matty Hunter’s ridiculous gap to wall ride, Cam McCaul’s trampoline to tail whip and Sam Hill absolutely destroying the North Shore with old time junior racing foe Thomas Vanderham. Brad’s backyard simply makes one wish you had the land; time and money to develop the play land that is his house.
The coolest aspect of the film was seeing Gee Atherton and Stevie Smith down in Queenstown. The ever-changing weather is something to behold and it show cases why this area is comparable to the best in the world. Stevie Smith best sums it with, ”I’d move here if there was a chairlift.” I get the distinct feeling he would be one of many…
This is a must have for the mountain bike dvd collector in you.
As the 3-year-old Kaia was jumping up and down on her seat yelling, ”look that’s me on the bike” all I could think was with inspiration like this, maybe- one day she will “Follow Me”.
